On this page are some diagrams which I created for an online class at AAU. For the class, I created multimedia presentations to explain reflection theory in detail - perhaps at a later time I will post more of that material here, but for now, I am posting only these diagrams. Hopefully, these can help you grasp some of the basic principles of reflection theory and their application in drawing.
Below are step-by-step diagrams showing the construction of reflections for various scenarios. Please click through the image carousels to see each step.
The step-by-step example below is based on a diagram in John Montague's book "Basic Perspective Drawing: A Visual Approach". While I have tried to do my own version of his drawing, I did rely heavily on his notes to create this step-by-step example. I want to be sure and give credit to the original author.
In a module on reflection theory, I attempted to address reflections on curved surfaces, but alas, I will only post a few images here for now. I enjoyed creating these. Perhaps at a later time I will post more.
